OB/GYN
Patricia Abruna, MD
Dr. Abruna is the attending physician and managing partner of Women’s Health Care LLC since January 2019. She graduated from the Ponce School of Medicine in 2009. She trained for the OB/Gyn specialty at Richmond University Medical Center in New York City, part of Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Abruna is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is highly skilled in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Abruna is a Major in the Army Reserve, serving with the 405th Combat Support Hospital in West Hartford, Connecticut. She also serves on several hospital committees, the Resident Review and Promotion Committee, the ACGME Review Committee, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Program, the Bridgeport Hospital committee and the Yale New Haven Health committee. She is fluent in Spanish.
OB/GYN
Robert Deal, MD
Robert Deal, MD is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is and Associate Professor of Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He has frequently been selected for entry into Connecticut Magazine’s “Top Docs” list. He serves on multiple hospital committees designed to improve patient outcomes, and is medical director of Labor and Delivery at Bridgeport Hospital. He participated in the design of Bridgeport Hospital’s electronic medical record system, which has reduced medical errors.
Nurse Midwife
Katy Despot, CNM
Katy Despot, CNM is a nurse midwife who trained at Yale School of Nursing. She is also a Family Nurse Practitioner with many years of experience. Katy provides routine gynecologic care, in addition to obstetric care. By collaborating with our doctors, Katy provides the nurturing care that is expected from a midwife, but always has the support of top obstetricians, should aspects of a pregnancy become high-risk.
